'Overload' 80x95 cm, oil on linen. This artwork explores the feeling of being swallowed by the never-ending flod of world news. Images and headlines always surround us. Many of the events we witness are tragic and unsettling, and over time their weight can become too much to hold.
'The Shelter' 20x20 cm, oil on Artefex copper panel. The painting is inspired by the situation in Ukraine and the horrific images of the war. It depicts a person who must hide in an improvised shelter to survive.
'The Thought Cloud' 200x250 cm, oil on linen. This painting is a commissioned work for Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA. They gave Frøydis the keyword 'Sunnfjord' and freedom to paint anything within this theme. Frøydis came up with the Idea of an imagined thinking cloud.The landscape in the cloud is from Redalen, out towards the Førde fjord and the mountain Engebøfjellet in Sunnfjord. This fjord is planned to be filled with 170 million tons of mining waste from Engebøfjellet, by the mining company, Nordic Mining. The city in the background is inspired by Norilsk in Siberia. Norilsk is one of the most polluted places on Earth with an average life expectancy of 60 years.
'Plastic Breakthrough' 55x135 cm, oil on linen. In 2017 a whale stranded outside Sotra in Norway with its belly full of plastic. Inspired by the plastic problem, Frøydis painted "Plastic Breakthrough", a painting that has won several awards and been exhibited at Sotheby's in New York, USA.
'Blizzard', 70x135 cm, oil on linen. As a result of climate change, weather conditions are becoming progressively more extreme and unpredictable.
'Take care' 48x130 cm, oil on linen. A painting inspired by our precious bees. Nearly 90 percent of all wild flowering plants depend at least to some extent on animal pollination. Caring for bees and other pollinators is part of the fight against world hunger.
